- The Practice was founded in April 2003 by Steve Marsland and started from nothing.
- Zohan Nash joined in December 2003 and Marsland Nash Associates was born.
- Nathan Murphy joined in 2007 and in April 2017 became an Equity Director.
- Darren Peterson joined in 2015 and in November 2021 became an Equity Director.
- From no staff and no office, we now have 21 staff.
The practice was founded by Steve Marsland in April 2003 and initially traded as Marsland Associates. Steve’s vision of offering a bespoke accountancy service to businesses and individuals proved to be an immediate success in the local area.
At this stage, it was clear that Steve needed to find a like minded person to develop and realise the full potential of the business. He turned to former work colleague Zohan Nash and in December 2003 Marsland Nash Associates was born in a back room of Steve's home.
Zohan Nash, highly motivated with a wealth of experience, worked successfully with Steve to develop a unique Accountancy Practice. The drive and energy exuding from their combined efforts took the business from strength to strength. By February 2004, having outgrown Steve's backroom at home the pair opened a small office in Torbay.
It was evident from the start that their unique approach was exactly what the local market place needed. Within a short space of time the Practice rapidly expanded beyond all expectations.
As the business expanded, Nathan Murphy joined the practice in August 2007 and in April 2017 Nathan became an equal Equity Partner and brings a wealth of experience as a qualified CharteredCertified Accountant (ACCA). Darren Peterson, also a long standing highly experienced member of the team was made a Director of Marsland Nash in November 2021 to complete the senior management team.
During the following years, the Practice continued to expand and recruit staff. In 2008 the Practice moved to larger offices in Brunel Industrial Estate in Newton Abbot, having around 6 staff members at this time. By 2014, we took over Torbay Accountancy and Bookkeeping Services (TABS) in Paignton, and opened a new fully refurbished office in that town. Having expanded once more we find ourselves back in Newton Abbot having moved into our newly refurbished office on the Decoy Industrial Estate in December 2022.
Today we employ 21 staff, with all our staff working in our newly appointed Newton Abbot office. Having the team together in one central base enables us to provide a consistent approach to the way in which we work and enhance the service provision we offer our clients. We have a large Corporate, Business and Personal client base, and also have a dedicated 3 staff strong Payroll department as well as a Bookkeeping bureau.
We are now well placed to provide specialist and compliance services to all local businesses, and with our strong position with great resources, we are welcoming more new clients to our portfolio.
We continue to provide pro-active, market leading support for the issues currently affecting businesses as well as being one of the most up to date practices for accurate, timely and pro-active tax planning.
Consideration to having further offices is on our long term strategic plan.
